Pre-ministry Preparation

Prayerful Preparation

Ask for protection for the recipient, the lead and yourself. This is very important! The intercessor's first task is to pray for protection, leading up to and during the session.

Ask the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, St. Michael, and your guardian angels for their intercession as that is a great place to start intercession. Pray the Rosary in preparation. If any other Saints want to intercede, trust that they will come to mind.

All ministry flows from your personal relationship with God. Spend quiet time alone with Him every day. Offer that time for your ministry.

Offer everything you do for the fruitfulness of the upcoming session, i.e., Rosaries, Chaplets, walking the Stations of the Cross, Adoration, attending Mass, praying the Liturgy of Hours, prayer walks, fasting, [an example is to fast from coffee every Wednesday & Friday all year for prayer ministry and personal intentions], any other devotions or sacrifices you are inspired to do.

Ask for the gift of wisdom for the lead; spiritual ears to hear and eyes to see and a heart to understand what Jesus wants to do for the recipient. Ask for the Holy Spirit to give the Lead whatever gift they need for the session. While every session is different, the aim is the same; to encounter the Love of the Father.

Ask the Holy Spirit for the grace of a softening of the recipient's heart to encounter His Love. For the grace of Trust in Jesus's mercy for the healing work He wants to do.

Equip yourself with the sword of the Spirit by reading the following bible verses and using some of these provided prayers in the session.

Inspiration - John 20:21-23

"So, Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.' And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit'." [In your prayerful preparation, take a moment to breath in the Holy Spirit to receive His inspiration.]

Abide - John 15:5

"I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."
[Set your mind in a place of abiding then unite your prayers with the Trinity.]

Movement - John 3:8

"The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes; so, it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." [The Spirit is blowing all the time, but we can't see the movements. Pay attention to the manifestations.]

Seek - Jeremiah 33:3

"Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell you great things beyond the reach of your knowledge."
[Give Jesus permission to use you to intercede however He wants. Thank Him ahead of time for the insights He will give you.]

Trust - Psalm 91:1-2

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”"
[God is with you, rest in Him.]

Listen - Psalm 85: 8-9

"I will listen for what God, the Lord, has to say; surely he will speak of peace to his people and to his faithful." (Psalm 85: 8-9) [This is our role. The Holy Spirit only speaks that which is good, true, and beautiful.]

Hear - John 10:27

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; " [Embrace silence and listen with expectant faith to the Holy Spirit who speaks in a "still small voice"]

Battle - Ephesians 6:11-18

"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; above all taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints."  [As soon as you accept the session, immediately put on your spiritual armor and step into battle. The lead will be focused on the recipient. While the intercessor's focus is the recipient and the Lead.]
